About Us & Methodology
ClariSchool was founded by a parent and data engineer frustrated by the chaotic, early-morning rush of school delays and cancellations. Our mission is simple: to help families plan their tomorrow with confidence.
Instead of simply republishing weather reports, ClariSchool calculates the mathematical probability of a district modifying its schedule. Our proprietary ClariScore™ maps localized meteorological hazards against ten years of school board historical behavior, giving parents an early indicator up to 9 hours ahead of official district announcements.
The ClariScore™ Model
The ClariScore™ index ranges from 0 to 100, indicating the likelihood of school closures or morning start delays. It is calibrated using five weighted signal categories derived from historical meteorological and district behavior data:
- District Behavior History: How a specific superintendent has historically responded under similar weather and temperature thresholds.
- Road & Transit Safety: Real-time road icing levels, snow accumulation rates, and county bus fleet operational status.
- Official Pre-Signals: Active municipal emergency declarations, state DOT travel bans, and shelter status.
- Meteorological Gravity: Total projected winter storm snowfall, sustained wind speeds, and wind chill forecasts.
- Air Quality Warnings: PM2.5 and PM10 smoke concentrations causing indoor-only recess mandates.
Our Data Verification Sources
To ensure ClariScore™ is calibrated objectively, we continuously ingest and clean verified public records from federal and state scientific platforms. The scoring weights and thresholds for each district are mapped directly to the following official partners:
